James went to the Kumbh Mela to participate in a documentary photography workshop. The objective of the course was to use the Kumbh as source material for a finished body of work, whether for exhibition, book, blog, series, anything that would show the photographs as a specific set or theme.
James and his fellow students didn't have ideas before arriving at the festival. Once there and after photographing for a couple of days, James decided on a theme of formal portraits of people attending the Kumbh. Here (and on the next blog posting) are the results.
