Daily Life At The Kumbh

Oh, if only all day, every day was bathing and hanging at the ashram. Someone has to cook the meals, do the dishes and keep the festival humming. Chances are you're doing it yourself or at least within the community with which you came.

A typical communal kitchen. Sure, holy bathing is nice, but sometimes you want to get really clean. Find a pipe.

Amid the crowds and chaos, a quiet set of dishes stacked neatly to dry.

And then the rains came and came hard, flooding the place and making roads tough to navigate.

Tent areas became flooded. Sheep moved in, looking for fertile real estate. It's a dynamic event.

Once the sun comes back up, time to get back to it, there's laundry to be done.
