While in India there are a few big stores selling a variety of items, the vast majority of places specialize in one theme.  Sort of a micro category killer.

Here's a typical example, an electric shop.  You need light bulbs, wire, extension cords, you've come to the right place.  A hammer or some paint?  Forget it.
